Meditations

This summer I spent a good deal of time learning to stop my racing thoughts. In June I took a class to learn “SKY” meditation from a wonderful organization called Art of Living: https://www.artofliving.org/us-en. It involves learning particular patterns of breathing followed by meditation. It also led me to take a silent retreat in July. A truly fantastic journey of introspection.

This experience has really helped to settle my racing thoughts. I’m learning to tame my mind. Many scoff when I say “meditation” but the truth is right now I can’t think of any greater skill. Before this experience I really thought the outside world was to blame for all my problems. I was attached to my story and kept referring to it as the source of my anxiety. Not true.

So now I am deeply into learning to quiet my mind. I’ve actually reduced my caffeine intake and dropped my sleep aid. I’m whittled down to a very low does of antidepressant that I take as a safety net not knowing the stress September will bring.

As I lie in relaxation following my daily SKY routine, I have thought of a nice visualization, giving gratitude to my life force. I will share it with you. I also did some recorded visualizations last summer and I’ll share those as well.

I wish you the best of luck in your journey to quiet your mind. For me it has made all the difference toward a happier existence.
